Terms & Conditions
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to create an account or submit an entry to Best In Sports. We may request proof of age and may close any account that does not meet this requirement.
2. Skill-based competition, not gambling
Best In Sports is a skill-based writing competition. Entries are judged purely on the quality of the written argument. There is no wagering, no stake on an outcome, and no element of chance in how entries are ranked.
3. No cash prizes
There are no cash prizes, no monetary rewards and no prize pools. Recognition is non-monetary only.
4. Subscriptions
Access is sold per sport at R50 per month, billed monthly and renewing automatically until cancelled. You may subscribe to any combination of sports and cancel any subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future billing; it does not create a right to a refund for the current period.
5. Weekly winner and recognition
The debate week runs Monday to Friday. Once Friday ends, submissions close and the highest AI score from that closed week is revealed on Saturday as Debater of the Week. The winner receives non-monetary recognition only: a featured shoutout, a shareable result card and a profile badge.
6. AI scoring is final
All entries are scored by an automated AI judge across Argument Logic, Specific Evidence, Originality and Writing Clarity. AI scores and the resulting rankings are final and not subject to appeal. Where two entries tie, the earlier submission ranks higher.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write, and you grant Best In Sports a licence to display your entry, username and score on the platform, including on leaderboards and result cards. Do not submit content that is unlawful, hateful, defamatory or plagiarised. We may remove entries that break these rules.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
